The Magic of the Magus Card

The Magic of the Magus Card

The Magus or the Magician Card is one of the most famous Tarot Cards out of the Deck!  He holds an aura of mystery and enchantment over all of his audience.  And everyone is watching to see what he can do!  What if someone were to tell you the Magician was you?  Because the truth is according to the Tarot you are the Magician! The Tarot Cards represent aspects and pieces of our human consciousness called archetypes that we all have within. We create our life from our thoughts first, and then manifest our thoughts into physical reality.  The Magician takes the energy from the great unseen and manifests it into matter.   He uses his tool kit: Wands, Cups, Swords, and Disks to create!  Wands represent Fire and are sacred to your will and desires.  Cups represent Water and are sacred to your emotions and feelings.  Swords represent Air, and are sacred to your mind and thoughts.  And Disks represent Matter and are sacred to Earth and all material things.  In the Rider-Waite Deck the Magus has his tools out on the table, and he is using his wand to draw the Energy down from the Universe to create and manifest his garden and his kingdom.  In Crowley’s Thoth Tarot Cards, the Magus is juggling the elements!  I love the imagery of the Juggler as he has to keep all of his tools up in the air, without dropping any one of them in order to manifest a balanced life.  Likewise, it is really the same way with our lives.  We have to juggle our desires and goals (wands/fire), while balancing our emotional life (cups/water), along with using our intelligence (swords/air), and still take care of our finances, home, and body (disks/matter).  We could be really focused on our goals, but if we don’t take care of our health and home we drop our Disks.  If we focus too much on a love relationship and we don’t take care of our career we can leave our wands behind.  It is important, in order to have a balanced life that we juggle all of our elements in balance in order to have a prosperous and emotionally fulfilling life!  This is the Magic teaching of the Magus, be a Juggler, as everything in life grows out of a balanced state!
